  • Continue discussing “Thank You M’am” Critical thinking questions from Thursday of last week—page 183 in textbook.

  • Demonstrate mastery of “Thank You M’am”, characterization, plot, theme and generalizations
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Take “Thank You M’am” quiz
    • Collect and correct multiple answer questions together (possible)
  • Begin Practice OAA fiction test
    • Begin to discuss answers, if time.

  • Get your hands on a personal jumpdrive/flash drive before research unit!

  • Apply paraphrasing to MLK’s speech
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • U5P1 Posttest
  • Finish watching the rest of “I Have a Dream” speech
    • Discuss reactions and notes taken on student handouts before, during & after the video
  • Model paraphrasing by rereading, studying, mentally “downloading” the meaning of Paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 from the speech. Paraphrase together as a class on SMART Board
  • Announce assigned groups & allow groups to meet to begin paraphrasing their section, if time.
HW:
  • Be sure to obtain a personal flashdrive/jumpdrive before we begin Research Project (end of next week/beginning of week January 28)
